The Beast of Toussaint is a main quest under the Blood and Wine DLC of Witcher 3.
Your task is to help the duchess find out who’s the monster behind the murders.
Here’s a walkthrough of The Beast of Toussaint in The Witcher 3.
Suggested level: 35 and above.
Defeat the giant
This quest starts immediately after Envoys, Wineboys. You’ll need to help the soldier defeat the giant named Golyat.
He moves pretty slowly. Just dodge the weapon and you should be fine.
Follow Milton
After the fight, follow Milton to the crime scene.
Investigate the riverbank
Use your witcher senses to find clues at the riverbank. Examine them.
Keep following the trail of footsteps.
At one point, some necrophages will appear. Kill them all.
Continue examining the scene after getting rid of the necrophages.
Next, you have to dive underwater to examine the nets for clues.
Once you’re done with the clues, return to Milton on your findings.
Go to the inn
Next, follow Milton to the inn just up there.
At the inn, you’ll get more clues on where to go.
Go to Corvo Bianco
Head to Corvo Bianco where the dead body was taken to.
You’ll see the dead soldiers. Go inside the cellar.
Once you’re inside, there’ll be clues to examine. Use your witcher senses to spot them.
Kill the Bruxa
Finally, you’ll meet a bruxa. She’s not the beast but she’ll attack you.
Kill the bruxa. She can disappear and reappear. Watch out for the sudden attacks.
Examine the victim’s body
After defeating the bruxa, examine the victim’s body.
Find Palmerin
Next, look for Palmerin. He’s at the arena.
Talk to him to get an audience with the duchess.
Defeat the shaelmaar
After the cutscenes, you’ll end up fighting with a shaelmaar. This one uses a rolling attack.
You have to dodge the attacks as it rolls a couple of times towards you.
The best time to attack is when its on the ground. You can do the most damage here.
Kill or spare shaelmaar
Here, you can either choose to kill or spare the shaelmaar. Sparing the shaelmaar will reward you with the Compassion virtue.
It comes in handy in another side quest.
Follow the duchess
After the cutscenes, you’ll learn who the next target is. Follow the duchess to the palace gardens.
You’ll then be tasked with finding the golden fish and the unicorn horn. They are part of the game the palace is playing.
Doesn’t matter if you choose golden fish or unicorn horn in the timed option.
Get the unicorn horn
Firstly, approach the unicorn. It will run away and you’ll require a treat.
An easier way to cheat is to use Axii immediately.
If you do use Axii, you’ll be confronted with three angry men.
Again, you can use delusion to persuade them to walk away.
Get the golden fish
The next clue is in the golden fish.
Head to the lake.
Dive underwater and examine all the fake fishes.
After finding it, a cutscene will load where someone else caught the fish. Geralt then takes it away and leaves.
Meet the duchess
Now you have both items, head to the duchess. She’ll get the last item.
During the cutscene, they will head to Milton’s location but he’s already dead. Geralt will then chase after the beast.
Fight the beast
You’ll need to defeat the Beast of Beauclair.
He can disappear in a fog and reappear elsewhere. You’ll need to dodge a lot as he will immediately use his claws when he appears behind you.
After defeating him, there’ll be another cutscene where you meet an old friend. He then explains who Dettlaff is (the beast).
The quest ends here but another quest starts.
