Of Swords and Dumplings is a secondary quest you’ll find in Novigrad in The Witcher 3.
Your task is to help Hattori, a former swordsmith, to negotiate with his supplier among other things.
Here’s a walkthrough of Of Swords And Dumplings in The Witcher 3.
This quest is recommended for level 24 and above.
The quest begins after you meet Hattori at his shop.
Go to the docks
Your first objective is to meet Hattori at the docks. The location is shown in the map.
Go there after dusk, closer to midnight. A cutscene will trigger.
Follow Hattori to meet the supplier nearby.
Negotiate with the supplier
You can bargain with the supplier to get a better deal.
Tell him it’s still too much.
At the last part, you can say ‘Fine, no deal’ and the supplier will give you a better price.
Escape the ambush
After the negotiation, there’ll be an ambush.
Take out the thugs first.
Escape the area once you’re done.
Talk to Hattori
Hattori will disappear and you’ll need to find him at the dumpling shop.
Knock on the door to trigger the cutscene.
To help Hattori, you can enlist the help of Sukrus as his bodyguard.
You will find Sukrus in a brawl with someone else outside the pub.
Defeat Sukrus using just your punches.
Convince the Skellige merchant to pay his debts
To get Sukrus’ help, you need to do him a favor first.
Go to the Skellige merchant at the docks to get him to pay his debts.
Talk to this trader who is on the ship.
The best way to get him to pay the debt is to use your delusion skill – “Palm trees grow on Skellige”.
Return to Sukrus
Once you’re done, head back to Sukrus’ location and let him know.
Return to Hattori
Next, go back to Hattori at the dumpling shop.
Talk to him.
Gather Sukrus and his boys
Hattori will ask you to do a favor for him, by robbing a warehouse.
Get Sukrus’ help. He is standing outside the dumpling shop.
Meet Sukrus at the warehouse
Next, go to the warehouse directly and meet Sukrus there. You’ll need to go after dark. Midnight will do.
On the way there, you’ll come across some drunkards. Use delusion to avoid a fight.
There’ll be a halfling guarding the door to the warehouse. You can use delusion to get in without a fight.
Find the crates with supplies
Inside the warehouse, use your witcher senses to identify the right crates.
Mark all three of the crates and get out.
Defeat Ernst van Hoorn
After coming out, there’s a cutscene. You need to fight Ernst and his men regardless of which option you choose.
Take out Ernst and his thugs.
Talk to Hattori
Once the job is done, head back to Hattori to claim your sword.
He’ll ask you to wait for it to be done. Just use meditation and fast forward a day or two.
The sword should be ready by then. It’s a steel sword.
