Theme Park Hotel @ Genting Highlands (Hotel On The Park) Review

Last updated on December 18, 2019 by A L

A new Theme Park Hotel was recently built on Genting Highlands and it’s called Hotel On The Park.

It’s at the old Theme Park Hotel location right beside where the Theme Park entrance was.

As the Twentieth Century Fox theme park is still under construction, you may not be familiar with how it looks now.

Hotel On The Park is already built and the rooms are ready but there are parts of it still under construction.

The reception at the moment is really small as most parts are closed. There isn’t a 100% sheltered road to it at the moment, so if it rains it can be difficult.

Here’s a short review of the new Theme Park Hotel at Genting Highlands.

This is the entrance to the hotel. The concept has changed a lot and it gives more of a kiddy feel to it.

Instead of using regular signs, they painted it on the wall instead. It gives out a more family-oriented vibe compared to the First World Hotel.

They also have vending machines outside the rooms near the elevators. You can buy all types of snacks including cup noodles.

Of course, they do sell drinks as well.

If your room is at the Valley Wing (facing the mountains), you’ll have to go through a long walkway.

To reach the walkway, you have to go to the 3rd floor from the main entrance and transfer to the Valley Wing.

I love how they decorated the walkway with the multi-colored glass panes and the markings on the floor.

It’s called hopscotch if I’m not mistaken. Most of us would have played this as kids in the past.

Now, let’s explore the inside of the room. It’s a quad room for 4 people.

The beds are pretty big and there’s a lot of space on the wooden floor, so you may actually fit more people if some are kids.

They decorated the room quite playfully and creatively that it’s suitable for the children. Their mini bolsters have the four colors that represent the hotel’s theme.

They made it easier for children to identify the sockets with the light bulb and electricity drawing.

The blinds on the window have cute drawings on it.

Personally, I find the drawing of the child creepy.

Even the fridge has the Theme Park’s four color scheme. They put the complimentary water bottles inside of it.

The place to hang your clothes is done very uniquely. It saves on cost (no need to buy cupboards) and it’s quite easy to use.

You can just hang your clothes on those ‘knobs’.

This Theme Park Hotel also comes with their own security box in the drawer, and some really cute room slippers.

As the hotel is not air-conditioned (since you can rely on the cold mountain air), they do provide a ceiling fan if it gets hotter.

The knob for the fan’s speed is on the wall where the sockets are.

They used a small TV and decorated around it. Clearly the concept is more modern and more kid-friendly.

However, the TV resolution isn’t that clear.

Next would be the bathroom section.

They have two sinks as it’s a quad room and it comes with the regular necessities.

The shower head is shaped like a donut or a bagel which is kinda cool.

The shower room and the toilet are two separate cubicles. The only thing I didn’t like about the toilet was the space.

It was way too narrow for myself. Even the hotels I stayed in Tokyo had bigger toilets.

They’re all about maximizing space I feel.

One thing that’s awesome about this hotel is that you have a balcony. There’s a chair and table outside and you can enjoy the cool weather looking at the mountains.

Here are some of the photos I took from the balcony of this new Theme Park Hotel.

Love the mist on the mountain.

On a separate day, I took more photos with a regular lens and a zoom lens. This was taken with a zoom lens.

From the hotel room, I can see a little bit of Kuala Lumpur.

Here’s a zoomed photo of Kuala Lumpur from the hotel room of Hotel On The Park. That’s the Twin Towers on the right.

Beautiful view isn’t it?

Overall, this new Theme Park Hotel is pretty unique, creative and kid-friendly. However, there are some things that are not so appealing.

Firstly, the location is pretty far from Sky Avenue, which is the trending part of Genting Highlands. This hotel is of course nearer to the Theme Park but the latter is not open yet.

Secondly, some parts of the hotel are not fully developed yet, i.e. the connection to the Theme Park and so on (since the Park isn’t open).

It’s also not recommended if you’re in Genting mainly for gambling. First World is still recommended for convenience for gamblers.

At the moment, they do not have their own parking. You have to use Resort Hotel’s car park which is the nearest.

As you may have known, the car parks are no longer free up here.

This hotel will likely be much more convenient when the 20th Century Fox Theme Park opens, but not now.

It’s recommended for bigger families as they have rooms that occupy even eight people a room.
