Off the Rails is a main mission in the DLC Bounty of Blood in Borderlands 3.
Your task is to find a lady named Oletta who will know more about the Ruiner monster.
Here’s a walkthrough of Off the Rails in Borderlands 3.
To begin the mission, speak to Juno at the sheriff’s office.
Place the Ruiner diagram on her table.
Clear street and follow Juno
After showing her the diagram, Devil Riders will show up and attack the town.
Defeat all the devils together with Juno.
Continue following her and secure the area from the enemies.
Clear garden
Follow Juno until the garden and kill all of the enemies. They will come from below.
Talk to Juno
Once you’re done with the garden, speak to Juno.
She’ll then return to the sheriff’s office. Follow her there.
Open the chest and you should get a legendary weapon.
Cross the Blastplains
Juno will then tell you about Oletta.
You’ll need to get out of Vestige and head over to the Blastplains.
Take your Jetbeast ride and just go to the marked area on the map.
You will then reach a new portal. This one leads to Obsidian Forest.
Find Oletta’s homestead
Inside Obsidian Forest, you’ll be required to find Oletta’s place. Just follow the markers on the map.
Along the way there, there’ll be plenty of devils to kill.
Keep going and you’ll reach Crone’s Contentment. It’s where Oletta lives but there are still mobs along the way.
After clearing the mobs, meet Oletta. A cutscene will load automatically as you reach her location.
Follow Oletta
After the cutscene, follow Oletta as she does an experiment.
Help her take the core sample from a small box.
Pass the core sample to her and once it’s done, she’ll pass the infused core to you.
Inject core samples
You’ll then be tasked to inject core samples into three of these machines.
Release bug groups
After all three core samples have been injected, release the three bug groups as indicated on the screen.
Once you’re done, continue following Oletta to the next area.
She’ll then teach you about these plants. You can melee them and the spores will brainwash a devil to fight for you for a limited amount of time.
Kill belliks
After successfully controlling a bellik, more belliks will come and you’ll need to kill them all.
Find train
Once the experiment is done, continue finding for the train.
Go until you reach Tallyway Station. Here, some Devil Riders will be waiting for you. Secure the area first.
Once they’re dead, use the valve to try to stop the train, but it will fail.
Destroy core loader
As it doesn’t work, continue going through the station.
You will reach an area with a core loader. Kill the enemies first and then melee the coresploder (crystal) to subsequently destroy the core loader.
Once you’re done, continue heading towards the train. Take out enemies along the way.
Get core bombs
You’ll then be required to use core bombs to destroy the train.
In this area (The Last Dig), there’ll be more enemies to kill first.
Once they’re dead, pick up the first core bomb.
Continue ahead and clear the area.
To get the next core bomb, you need to melee the coresploder.
It will eventually blast open the closed shutters.
Inside, there’s another blocked path and you’ll have to use another coresploder to break the path open.
At the top of the area, you will find the second core bomb.
For the third core bomb, follow the marked area on the map.
You’ll see a pool of toxic waste and in the middle, there’s a breezebloom.
Use it to jump all the way up.
You will see the third core bomb up here.
Place core bomb
Next, you have to find a shortcut to the train.
Follow the marked area on the map.
Place the core bomb near the pile of rubble.
Melee the coresploder / crystal to ignite the core bomb.
Place two core bombs
You will then reach the train area.
Use the breezebloom to reach the tracks.
As usual, get rid of all the enemies above.
Once you reach a dead end, look for the container on the right side. From there, you can jump forward.
Continue clearing the area.
Finally, place two core bombs at the designated area.
Hit coresploder
To make it detonate, head to the coresploder located towards the right.
Melee it to detonate the bombs. The train will then be derailed.
Look for the conductor
Head to the crash site of the train.
Ask around to see where the real conductor is.
Defeat Bellik Primis
After speaking to the conductor, a mini boss fight will start.
You’ll have to defeat Bellik Primis, which is much bigger than the other monsters.
Watch out for the orbs of corrosive energy. Use a different element to kill it.
The mission ends after speaking to the conductor again.
