Animal Crossing: New Horizons is already out for some people based on location.
Also, some may have gotten the game earlier as retail shops are closing.
Here’s how you can grow a bells tree / money tree in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH).
Note: bells are the in-game currency / money in the Animal Crossing series and it’s the same in ACNH. Images were taken from Kyugma’s YouTube video as embedded below.
Get bells and a shovel
Before you can plant a money tree, you need some bells and a shovel. In New Leaf, the golden shovel was acquired by purchasing 50 bags of fertilizer from the garden shop. We’re still about to find out if it’s the same in New Horizons or if you can just use a flimsy shovel.
Look for the glowing spot
You may see a small glowing patch on the ground and if you dig it, you’ll get some bells.
Bury the bells
Once you have the bells, you can bury them with a golden shovel. Use the same glowing spot to bury the bells.
If Animal Crossing: New Leaf is to be used as an example, then the amount of bells you use may affect the probability of a bell tree growing. It’s like gambling.
After burying the bells, you may see a plant growing.
This YouTuber (video below) buried 10,000 bells and the bell / money tree grew.
Wait for the tree to grow
Once the tree matures after a few days, you can may find yourself with a money tree. You can now shake the bells off the tree.
