The Forest is a survival horror game developed by Endnight and you can play it with friends.
As it’s in the survival genre, you’ll need food and water to make it. After crash landing the plane, you should be able to find some food initially.
But what happens when it runs out? Here’s how you can find and cook food in The Forest.
How to catch and kill animals
The easiest way to catch and kill a rabbit is by building a rabbit trap. It requires 31 sticks to build one trap.
Although it’s meant for rabbits, there are times even the huge lizards get stuck in it (might be a bug).
Once the rabbit is stuck inside, pick it up and hold your action button to strangle it to death.
You’ll then be able to skin the rabbit and pick up the flesh. You can do the same for lizards.
If you don’t have a trap yet, the other way is to simply chop the animal if it’s in front of you.
Rabbits will generally run away quickly but some animals like lizards are slower.
Sometimes you’ll see birds landing in front of you as well. You can easily kill them in near range. There are all kinds of animals in the forest that you can kill and eat.
Once you’ve crafted a bow and arrows, it’s easier to kill an animal before it runs away.
How to cook animal meat
Once you have the animal meat, you’ll need to build a basic fire to cook the meat.
It only requires 2 sticks and 7 leaves.
Place the basic fire on the ground and start the fire using your lighter.
You can then put several meat on the fire and let it cook. Once it’s cooked, you can start eating.
You’ll need to add more leaves to maintain the flames as well.
Use a drying rack
Another way to consume meat safely is by making a drying rack first.
You can place the animal on the rack and let it dry.
Once it becomes dried meat, it’s edible.
Eat plants
Another way to find food is by eating certain plants you find in the forest.
They do not add much to your fullness but it’s better than nothing in emergencies.
