What Love Remains is a main mission in the 4th DLC of Borderlands 3.
Your task is to enter Sapphire’s Run and rescue Maya within Krieg’s Mind.
Here’s a walkthrough of What Love Remains in Borderlands 3.
Take the orb
To begin the mission, take the orb from Krieg.
Place the orb at the designated area.
The orb will unlock a new portal. Enter the portal to reach Sapphire’s Run.
Reach Maya
You will see Maya here. Wait for their conversation to be over and a bridge will be formed.
Maya will then be taken by a train named Locomobius.
Take Maya’s book
After Maya’s gone, take the book she left behind — where she was sitting.
Hunt Locomobius
Now, you can either use the portal or take the tunnel pathway.
If you use the tunnel, you’ll be forced to slide and if you aim towards the right, there’s a chest above.
After the tunnel, to proceed, you have to place her book and a path will be formed.
Take out the Varkids
You will reach an area filled with Varkids. Take them out first.
Proceed further
To go further ahead, place Maya’s book again to form a walkway.
More enemies await here. Take them out.
Destroy caboose and clear area
You will reach Conjunctivitis Junction which is filled with enemies. Secure the area from the enemies and destroy the caboose (train cart in the middle).
The enemies will spawn all around you, some on the upper platform.
Activate rail pivot
Once the area is secure, make your way up the platform to use the rail pivot.
Get explosive barrel
You’ll find an explosive barrel on the upper area as well.
Return to the caboose and place the explosive barrel there.
Shoot the tank
Now, shoot at the tank above the caboose. It will result in the caboose being launched towards the blocked entrance.
Continue finding Locomobius
Once the path is opened, continue going towards Locomobius’ lair. More enemies await.
At one point, you have to use the jump portal to reach the next area.
You will reach a train track. Watch out for Locomobius’ attacks. Just avoid the lighted tracks.
Towards the end, a portal will be opened. Jump into the portal.
Activate platform
You will reach another world within the world. Use the book to form a path ahead.
Take out the guardians
Guardians will spawn. Take them out.
To continue further, place the book again.
Head to the portal
You will then come across a portal in the middle of a round area. Go near it first.
Then, place the book in the middle of the area.
Defeat all guardians
Guardians will spawn immediately after placing the book.
Kill them all.
After securing the area, pick up Maya’s book.
Enter the portal to continue finding Locomobius.
Reach Locomobius’ lair
Once you’re back in the previous world, more enemies await.
The train attacks will become more common here. Whenever you see a pink portal forming near you, just avoid it. The train will pass by and can destroy most of your armor.
After clearing the first area, jump on the train carts to proceed further.
You will then reach a Varkid area. Take them out.
Next, jump down into the hole. The portal above also leads to the same area.
More enemies await here. Take them out and watch out for the train attacks.
Keep going until you reach the jump portal. Stock up on ammo first as the boss battle is here.
Once you’re ready, jump into the lair.
Free Maya
Maya will be inside and she’ll free herself.
Destroy Locomobius
Locomobius will appear and you can start shooting at it. The weakness seems to be at the bottom of the train.
There’s a pattern to its attacks. It will pass by a couple of times first and it’s vulnerable to attacks.
Locomobius will also stop to offload some enemies to distract you. It also uses its train attacks where it becomes immune.
The best time to deal damage is when Maya uses her power to suspend the train mid-air.
Just keep repeating the process until you win.
Follow Maya
After the battle, follow Maya into the door.
Pick up the golden gauntlet.
Before you leave, a few chests will appear and you can get more loot.
Talk to Sane Krieg
To finish the mission, talk to Sane Krieg.
