Merlin Trial is a type of exploration puzzle available all over Hogwarts Legacy.

How to solve the three Merlin Trials at Rookwood Castle
The first Merlin Trial is the one near some pillars with balls on top of them.
Start the trial using a Mallowsweet.
The key to solving it is to destroy all of the balls above those pillars. There are three pillars at each spot and nine pillars in total.
Destroy all of the balls and the trial ends.
For the second trial, you will see some pillars at quite a distance. Use Revelio to notice them.
There are three pillars in total.
The key to solving it is to use a fire spell like Confringo on those pillars to light them up.
You need to light all three pillars before any one of them goes back to the ground and resets. It’s a time-based trial.
As the pillars are far apart, you may want to light the pillars that are near each other and use a broomstick to fly to the last one.
For the third trial, it’s located near the sea.
Use Revelio and you’ll see four platforms on the sea. To solve the Merlin Trial, you just need to jump from the first platform all the way to the last.
You can’t fall down or it resets.
