Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy is back on Netflix as it was released on the 31st of July 2020 worldwide.
Like the previous season, all episodes were released simultaneously and there are 10 episodes in total.
The show once again ended with a surprise and here’s a recap of season 2, episode 10 of The Umbrella Academy.
Episode 10 is titled “The End of Something“.
Recap of the ending
Below is a recap of what happened in episode 10 of season 2 of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy.
Back to 2006
The episode started with a revisit of 2006 when Ben’s funeral was conducted. The members gathered around the coffin, followed by their father giving an eulogy.
He blamed them for not being good enough to save one of their own.
In a later scene, young Klaus is shown using his powers and he somehow brought Ben’s spirit back to him.
Ben apparently wanted to go to the light but Klaus persuaded him to stay.
The present
After the flashback, the group is seen watching the television as they’re now being hunted nationwide as big criminals who may be related to JFK’s assassination.
Vanya then feels that Harlan is in danger and tries to get her siblings to follow her to the farm, but they refused at first.
After Vanya got in the car, Klaus was the first to join her. She finally relayed Ben’s message that he was afraid to go to the light, not because Klaus got him stuck here.
Her other siblings then came into the car one by one and decided to join her to the farm.
As they left, the final Swede member who has been following them drives off in the truck.
Incident at the farm
When the group arrives at the farm house, there’s a huge energy storm which sort of transformed a part of the farm into a winter land.
Vanya then introduces her family to Sissy and wishes to help Harlan.
Inside, Harlan is floating with an energy tornado surrounding him. Vanya enters the energy barrier and tries to calm him down.
In the meantime, Diego spots Lila and the Handler at a distance in the field.
Five and Diego confronts them and the Handler wishes to execute the whole family for the crime of killing the Commission’s board members.
Diego finally learns that Five was the one who murdered the entire board. He then mentions that they are seven against two.
The Handler snaps her finger and revealed that she actually has the entire Commission’s operative team behind them.
Diego and Five proceeds to run away while being shot at, and everyone else hid while taking fire.
Vanya then floats out of the barn and uses her shockwave to eliminate the entire team of operatives.
Lila and the Handler were not harmed however, as Lila has her own ability of mimicking powers.
Lila then uses the same energy wave that Vanya used and attacked the Umbrella Academy.
Allison tries to rumor Lila but it backfired and she stopped breathing. Luther then manages to get Allison out of her own spell.
He then attacked Lila but Lila also had super strength as she mimicked his power.
She finally proceeds to fight Five as they teleport from one place to another.
Five and Lila fought at the barn until the rest intervened.
They discovered that Lila was born on the same day as them, meaning she was one of them.
Five then tells Lila that the Handler was the one who ordered the kill on her parents.
While Lila was getting convinced, the Handler appeared and shot everyone in the barn. All of them died except Five.
Lila who tries to stab the Handler was killed as well.
Before the Handler could finish off Five, the Swede killed the Handler from behind.
Five then remembered his father’s advice on time traveling seconds rather than decades. He proceeded to go back in time before the Handler came.
He then stopped the Handler from shooting his family, and the Swede ends up killing the Handler again.
Five then convinced the Swede to stop the fight (as the Handler was behind it all) and the Swede eventually left.
In the next scene, Vanya manages to absorb most of the power out of Harlan.
Not long after, Herb and his assistant arrived at the farm.
Herb becomes the acting chairperson while they’re still electing a new board of directors for the Commission.
Five asks for a briefcase to go back to 2019, and Herb points out that he can pick any from the fallen operatives on the field as each operative was carrying one.
Farewell
Vanya had her farewell with Sissy as the latter will remain in 1963 instead of going to the future.
Luther tries to get closure with his former boss Jack while Allison wrote a letter for Ray before she left.
Harlan is then seen levitating an object as he follows his mother elsewhere, indicating that some powers remained with him.
Five and the rest of the family finally reunites and uses the briefcase to go to the future.
Sparrow Academy
After time traveling, they discover that they’re transported to a day after the apocalypse in 2019, meaning the apocalypse didn’t happen.
However, they noticed that Ben’s painting is on the wall instead.
Their father who is now alive in this timeline says that this is the Sparrow Academy, not the Umbrella Academy.
Ben who seems to be the leader of the Sparrow Academy shows up with his own group.
Once again, the show ends with a cliffhanger.
The group’s interference with the timeline which stopped the apocalypse must have altered the current timeline where Ben is the leader of the Sparrow Academy.
Their father Reginald is also not who he apparently is.
In a previous episode, he showed his true form which resembled an alien or some sort of creature, before murdering his secret group.
We’ll learn more of what’s to come if they decide to renew The Umbrella Academy for its third season.
