You will come across a part in Utopia where you need a cogwheel to fix the elevator.
There will be a series of puzzles before you can eventually get the cogwheel.
Here’s how you can get the cogwheel in Utopia in Raft.
As soon as you have found the hammer for another door, you will notice an elevator with a missing cogwheel.
How to get the cogwheel
To get the cogwheel, you need to head to the door which requires the hammer to unlock.
Inside, you will meet Olof, the baddie in this place.
The goal here is to move the cogwheel to the upper level. Unfortunately, you can’t carry a cogwheel and jump or climb up.
Hence, you will have to load the cogwheel on the tray and use a heavy object on the second tray to pull the cogwheel up.
To get the cogwheel to the correct level, you need the proper weight on the other tray. Each weight is labeled by a number, but I can’t remember the correct number to get the cogwheel to the right level.
Once you have the cogwheel, place it on the device to lower the bridge.
In the next area, you will see another puzzle which uses the same mechanics.
You can remove the weight on the tray with cogwheels.
This time, you should use the weight “3” on the other tray to allow the cogwheel to go up to the correct level.
Take one cogwheel and place it into a device to lower the stairs.
You will now be able to carry a cogwheel down the stairs and load it onto the tray near where you first entered the building.
Pull the rope and the tray will be transported to the other side.
Go back to the area where you found the hammer (where the cogwheel is missing).
You will see the tray with the cogwheel just outside the area. Take the cogwheel.
Place it into the elevator and you can now use the elevator to go up.
