In Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll come across locked doors all around the open world, even outside of the school itself.
The locks have different levels, i.e. Level 1 Lock, Level 2 Lock and Level 3 Lock. Most of the time, you’ll end up frustrated as there are chests behind those locked doors.
Here’s how you can open locks in Hogwarts Legacy.
You will need to unlock Alohomora
To open a lock, you need the spell Alohomora. This spell comes pretty late when you get a level 14 quest named The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament.
This quest is by Gladwin Moon and he’ll teach you the spell to access locked areas.
Once you have Alohomora, just walk up to a locked door and use it. You can’t equip it as it’s default.
How to solve the lock puzzle / mechanism
Alohomora is just the first part, as you’ll need to learn how the lock mechanism / puzzle works.
You will be given green and red orbs, each on a different joystick for your controller (if you’re on console).
You need to turn the green orb around until you see the bottom-right gears moving and has a green light on it. Once you’ve gotten it, hold that position.
For the red orb, you need to turn slowly until you see the two small gears in the middle rotating with a red light.
To open the lock, you need to hold both the green and red orbs at the correct position and the door is unlocked.
Each lock has a different position so you’ll need to try each time.
How to open level 2 and 3 locks
To open higher level locks, you need to return more Demiguise Moons to Gladwin.
