Into the Darkness is a main story quest available in Final Fantasy XVI.
Your objective is to find Hugo Kupka and defeat his Titan form.
Here’s a walkthrough and guide of Into the Darkness in FFXVI.
Follow the path
The quest begins as you arrive. Follow the linear path towards the Mothercrystal.
You’ll be introduced to orcs for the first time. Slay them all.
Continue ahead going under the wood.
Defeat more orcs.
At one part, you’ll meet orc enemies that are standing above the platform.
You can defeat them with ranged magic, pull them with Garuda’s ability or just teleport there with fire.
Kick the crate to get The Favor of Lightning (Lightning Rod) accessory.
Continue up the stairs and you’ll see more orcs waiting.
Slay the Orcish Warlord
You’ll then face an elite mob, i.e. the Orcish Warlord.
As always, make use of stagger to defeat an elite.
Continue to the square
Head towards the square just before the castle.
Slay the Undertaker
You will then need to defeat the Undertaker, which is a monster probably created by Ultima.
Defeating this boss will give you The Favor of Lightning (Thunderstorm) accessory among other things.
Go through Castle Dazbog
You will then reach Castle Dazbog. Make your way upstairs.
Now you’ll face mostly Ultima’s monsters like wraiths.
During the fight, you’ll be introduced to Bravery meaning some opponents will use this skill to enhance the performance of other monsters.
Defeat the one who uses Bravery first.
Keep going and you’ll reach the Inner Sanctum.
Revenants await outside. Slay them all.
You’ll finally meet Hugo Kupka in a cutscene.
Defeat the Titan
Hugo primes into the Titan and you’ll play as Ifrit again.
There are a few phases to this fight. The first one is the most direct where you just do the usual moves.
Titan has many abilities like Voice of the Land.
At one point, Titan stands back and throws rocks at you. This part lasts only seconds.
He will then throw a giant rock at you.
Here’s where Ifrit learns Brimstone. You can now use this skill but it has a cooldown.
Continue the fight with Titan.
After Titan is defeated in the first phase, he starts eating crystals and gets extremely large.
Now you’ll face phase two.
Ifrit will then run towards Titan Lost. Here you just need to dodge rocks or use your fireball to destroy rocks before it hits you.
For the next part, you’ll be running on Titan’s tentacles. Dodge the crystals that spawn while running and avoid the flying rocks. You can also shoot those rocks.
The next stage is where you’ll face the main body of Titan Lost.
You can see the area where the attack will come before it happens.
Just avoid the area and you need to dodge the impact from the attack most of the time.
Just wait for the arm to come down and you can keep attacking it. Use Brimstone for max damage especially when it’s staggered.
You can also use charged magic / magic in between.
At one point, Ifrit gets flung all the way up and he’ll drag one of Titan’s tentacles all the way down to the main body.
While in the air, you need to destroy rocks that are coming towards you.
Also, destroy the tentacle that appears and also destroy / avoid the rocks.
Ifrit will then destroy the Titan Lost body.
You will now face the last stage of the battle where you fight Titan while falling down.
Watch out for its usual attacks and special attacks like Earthshaker.
After the battle, you’ll get an Earthen Fury material among other things.
Cutscenes
There’ll be several cutscenes after the fight.
Ifrit destroys the Mothercrystal.
You will also see Ultima trying to enter Clive’s body but the latter manages to stop it.
In the meantime, Barnabas and Harbard is seen watching the fight from afar.
We also see Joshua meeting with Dion.
Return to the hideaway
Go back to the hideaway to complete the quest.
