Flight Of The Fledgling is a main quest in Final Fantasy XVI.
Your objective is to escape the stronghold as the Imperial army invades.
Here’s a walkthrough and guide of Flight Of The Fledgling in Final Fantasy 16.
Escape from the stronghold
You’ll start the quest playing as Joshua, the Phoenix Eikon.
Leave the room and follow Wade to escape from the area.
You’ll meet enemies. Use magic or go near and use the regular attack. In any case, Wade does most of the fighting.
Continue ahead and you’ll face more soldiers.
Defeat the invaders
After the cutscene where Joshua leaves with his father Archduke Elwin, you’ll play as Clive again.
Head back in to defeat the invaders.
You’ll be paired with Commander Murdoch. Defeat the Imperial troops.
Keep going and you’ll finally reach an outdoor area. More Imperials await here.
Defeat the Knight of the Blinding Dawn
You’ll then face a mini boss who is an Imperial dragoon.
The fight should be quite straightforward. Just attack him until he starts to retaliate. It should be easy to dodge.
He also uses an aerial attack. You can see the blue circle on the ground. Just stay away and you’ll be fine.
There’ll also be cinematic takedowns / evasions.
More cinematics
After the battle, you’ll see more cutscenes. Some of the soldiers betrayed Archduke Elwin and beheaded him.
Joshua loses control and transforms into his Phoenix Eikon.
Clive returns to stop the Phoenix but he himself turns into the Eikon of Fire.
Phoenix vs Eikon of Fire
You will now return to the first flying battle between the Phoenix and the Eikon of Fire like at the start of the game.
You will use the Phoenix and can fire, aim and evade.
Spoilers ahead.
For the first part, you just need to aim at the Eikon of Fire and continuously hold your attack button to shoot fireballs.
Most of the fight will just be like this and some dodges time to time. Whenever you see the enemy prepares to use a fire burst, just get ready to dodge.
There will also be cinematic moves where you have a short time period to attack or dodge.
At the last part, Eikon of Fire will use his hellfire attack. Keep attacking the Eikon until the cutscene is triggered.
The battle between the Eikon of Fire and the Phoenix eventually ended with the former winning. Joshua probably ends up dead after the fight as Clive lost control of the Eikon.
We also see that the Duchess Anabella is most likely behind the invasion. She was the Archduke’s wife and asks her soldier to capture Clive and make him one of the Imperial soldiers.
The quest and the demo ends here.
