Red Dead Redemption 2 Cheat Codes (How To Unlock Cheats)

Like previous Rockstar Games, especially Red Dead Redemption and the GTA series, cheat codes are no exception in this game as well.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has its fair share of cheat codes, but using it will hinder your achievements and trophies. You should use a separate save file for them.

How to unlock cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2

Before we go to the list of cheats, here’s how you can type in your cheat codes. It may not be that obvious at first.

Get to your menu first.

Go to “Settings” which is the last row. Inside your settings, you should see the word “CHEATS” at the bottom right of the screen.

If you’re on the PS 4, press TRIANGLE to access the cheat area, and the respective button for the Xbox.

For a first timer, this is what you will see. A list of unknown cheats all locked.

Once you have the cheat code, press TRIANGLE (for PS 4) to enter the cheat code.

A keyboard will appear and you just have to type the sentence in. Make sure that every word is accurate and don’t leave a space after the sentence. Whenever you choose a word automatically, they will create a space after the word. Remember to erase that space.

It has to be correct word for word and it will be fine.

You will get this alert message when you successfully unlocked a cheat.

One cheat that you can see in the screen above is to purchase all camp upgrades. If you activate it, they will give you a warning that using cheats will affect your trophies and so on.

Use a separate save file for cheats to be safe.

So how did users find the cheat codes in RDR2?

Most of them are found in the newspapers.

You can buy a newspaper in most towns for $1. Some cheat codes require that you possess the newspaper, while others don’t.

Look at the bottom right of each newspaper as the cheat code is usually there.

The example above is “Abundance is the fullest desire” and the screenshot below is another newspaper with “Virtue unearned is not virtue”.

These are newspapers from Saint Denis. After you’ve completed the game, you can purchase the backdated copies of the newspapers.

Cheats can also be found in engravings elsewhere, not just on the papers.
