In The Shadow of Starlight is a main mission in Borderlands 3 in Nekrotafeyo.
Your task is to finally activate The Machine to prevent The Great Vault from opening.
Here’s a walkthrough of In The Shadow of Starlight in Borderlands 3.
This mission is recommended for level 36 and above.
Go back to Sanctuary
Head back to Sanctuary.
Go to Tannis’ lab
Look for Tannis at her lab.
Place Nekrotafeyo vault key
Put the vault key of Nekrotafeyo at Tannis’ place and she’ll activate it with Siren powers. Take the key when it’s ready.
Go back to Desolation’s Edge
Head back to Desolation’s Edge in Nekrotafeyo.
Go to The Pyre of Stars gate
Next, go to The Pyre of Stars. The location is shown in the map below.
This was where you placed the 3 vault keys. Put the last vault key at the slot.
Enter The Pyre of Stars
Walk into the Pyre of Stars following Tannis and Typhon.
Follow Tannis all the way.
Give Pandora vault key
Once you’ve reached the pedestal for Pandora, hand over the key to Tannis. She’ll place it on the pedestal.
Follow Typhon
You’ll now need to find the other 3 pedestals to put the keys. Follow Typhon this entire mission.
You’ll come across many enemies in the area. They are mostly guardians of the vault.
Use Promethea pedestal
Once the area is secure, place the key on the pedestal.
Continue following Typhon to the next location.
There’ll be more guardians along the way.
Use switch
You’ll find a console here. Use the switch to proceed.
Continue following Typhon. You will then encounter some COV dudes here. Kill them and the guardians.
Follow Typhon
Head to the “elevator” to go all the way up.
Use Eden-6 pedestal
Up here, you’ll find the pedestal for Eden-6. Place the key again.
Continue following Typhon and clearing the path.
Head to last pedestal
There’ll be COV and guardians in most areas. Take them all out.
Use the elevator or some sort of Eridian tech to fly to the next area.
At the next platform, expect more enemies.
Use switch
You’ll finally reach a door. Use the switch to open it. Typhon will press the other switch.
Use Nekrotafeyo pedestal
Before you can use the pedestal, kill the COVs and the guardians.
Place the last key once the area is secure.
Go to Tannis
Head back to Tannis to activate The Machine.
Protect Tannis
The COV will then appear in full force.
This battle is tougher because there are at least 3 Anointed mobs, alongside the other regular mobs.
If you’re dying, you can hide inside the barrier created by Ava. However, some attacks by the Anointed can bypass the barrier.
There’ll be a cutscene after securing the area. The mission completes here. You will get some cash as reward.
