In the Shadow of the Mine is a main quest with Sebastian in Hogwarts Legacy.
Your objective is to find a rune symbol and a portrait inside the mine to complete the portrait at the Undercroft.
Here’s a walkthrough and guide of In the Shadow of the Mine in Hogwarts Legacy.
The required level is 22.
To begin the quest, go to the Overlook marked in the map below. It’s near Upper Hogsfield.
Talk to Sebastian there.
He will then ask if you wish to avoid detection or attack them.
Reach the entrance to the mine
I chose the stealth method. Use Disillusionment and walk past the goblins. Stick towards the right side where it’s quiet.
In the next area, you can do the same thing.
You’ll eventually reach the mine entrance.
Search for the rune symbol
You’ll come across more goblins inside. You can kill them both quietly from behind.
At the next area, you may need to fight.
You will reach a part with two routes.
One is blocked by spider web. Burn the web and get the loot.
Now, use Wingardium Leviosa / Accio on the box and place it near the ledge. Climb up.
Make your way down the place by sliding.
You’ll then reach a broken bridge. Use Reparo to fix it.
In the next area, you’ll need to take out some spiders.
You will then come across a place with two paths. One of them is through the extreme danger sign.
Use Lumos to get through.
Go all the way and get the chest inside.
Now, head back and use the other path.
You will reach a big open area where you have to defeat more Loyalists and spiders.
Investigate the cavern
To open the door, you need to cast magic on all the three devices / symbols on the cavern wall.
The door is then open. Enter the chamber.
Explore the chamber
Pick up Isidora’s journal entry and also the portrait.
Talk to Sebastian after.
Return to the Undercroft
In the same chamber, you’ll see a way to exit to the Undercroft.
Place the portrait
Inside the Undercroft, place the portrait.
During the conversation, Sebastian will ask you about the informant. I chose not to say anything and he guessed it’s a goblin and get mad anyway.
The quest ends here.
