Bloody Harvest – Descend Into Heck is the latest event mission in Borderlands 3.
Your task is to find ghosts and get hecktoplasms for Maurice, and eventually kill Captain Haunt.
Here’s a walkthrough of Bloody Harvest – Descent into Heck in Borderlands 3.
To begin the mission, you must have unlocked Sanctuary in the main story.
Find Maurice
First of all, you need to find Maurice. If the mission doesn’t appear, then you’ll need to update it by going to the main menu.
Maurice is located at the Mayhem Mode device (for those who have finished the game). The exact location is shown in the map below, marked by the mission symbol.
The dinosaur here is Maurice. Speak with him.
Maurice will ask you to find ghosts and get their loot (hecktoplasm).
Where to find ghosts for Bloody Harvest event?
You can find ghosts pretty much in any area. We found them in Eden-6 in many places.
They won’t be around by themselves. You need to look for enemies – can be ratches, COV, and any other type of enemy.
You will see the enemy surrounded by either green or red ‘aura’. Green is for regular ghosts, and red is for badass ghosts.
The best way to find ghosts is to enter places filled with enemies, like those places you enter during main missions.
One example is The Anvil in Eden-6. There are enemies all the way, and you’ll find a couple of enemies possessed (image below).
You will see some green or red energy around them. Once you kill the enemy, the ghost will escape and try to haunt you.
Kill the ghost and the hecktoplasm will drop.
You need to collect 25 hecktoplasms first.
Return to Maurice
Once you have the 25 hecktoplasms, go back to Sanctuary and talk to Maurice.
Go to The Heck Hole
Maurice will open the portal to Heck. Enter the portal.
Find Captain Haunt
Your main objective is to look for Captain Haunt and kill him.
Along the way, you’ll meet with all kinds of undead enemies. In each area before the gate, there’ll also be a gatekeeper.
To open the gate, you need to kill the gatekeeper. It spawns after you’ve killed most of the enemies.
You will meet undead heavies as well.
At one point, you’ll come across some shielding devices. They will make the enemy immune. Destroy the shielding devices first.
There is one on each side.
Finally, you’ll reach a building. Keep going ahead. There’ll be more creatures inside.
At the end of the room, you should see these skeleton heads. It’s actually part of the pumpkin challenge. You need to pull the skeleton heads in the right order, or it will fail and you need to restart.
To decide the order, look at the four pumpkins you see in the room before this. They all have different colors.
Follow the pumpkin colors from left to right, and pull the skeleton heads accordingly. It will unlock the secret room.
Once you’re done, jump into the pit.
Down here, there’ll be ratches to kill.
Go until you reach the gate. To open the gate, you need to kill the ratch gatekeeper.
There will be a couple of ratch nests, ratches and ratch swarms. After some time, the ratch gatekeeper will appear.
Kill the gatekeeper to open the gate.
Kill Captain Haunt
Once the gate is open, go until you reach this hole.
It’s a boss fight, so be prepared first before you jump down.
You will be introduced to Captain Haunt, presumably related to Traunt.
Like other boss fights, Captain Haunt has a set of moves as well. He typically shoots energy balls and they’re quite avoidable.
Captain Haunt can also summon ghosts that will attack you. He also slams the ground if he’s near you.
The best way to attack Haunt is to shoot at its head. You may get more critical shots and he may be stunned for 1 second.
After his health reaches a certain point, he will have an immunity shield.
When his shield is up, he will summon some undead enemies. You can sprint around if you don’t wish to attack them.
To destroy the shield, look for the shielding devices. There are two in the room.
Destroy them both.
Once the shielding is down, continue attacking Captain Haunt. The immunity shield will appear again when he reaches 1/3 of his health.
After getting rid of the shielding again, attack him until he dies. The immunity shield should appear twice in the fight in total.
After he dies, he may drop a legendary item. For our case, it’s a legendary class mod.
Return to Maurice
Go back to the Sanctuary and talk to Maurice to complete the mission. You will earn cash as reward.
You will also unlock a new repeatable mission – Bloody Harvest (The Rebloodening). This mission requires you to get 25 hecktoplasms like before.
