Fire Pokemon are great against grass type, ice type, steel type and bug type Pokemon. It’s effective against four elements, which is why you should carry at least one fire type Pokemon in a game.
Here are some of the best fire Pokemon among all of the seven generations. Of course, it’s hard to pick just ten of them and many would probably disagree for many reasons.

1. Charizard
Charizard is obviously a crowd favorite from the 1st generation. This fire and flying type Pokemon is the evolved form of Charmeleon. It can even mega evolve into Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y.
Charizard is typically seen around mountains or valleys and is always looking for strong opponents to fight. Its flames also gets hotter after it has more and more experience in battle.
It has decent overall base stats, with special attack and speed being its strongest attributes. However, when it turns into Mega Charizard X or Y, its stats greatly improve, especially on the special attack and attack.
2. Blaziken
Next on the list of top fire Pokemon is Blaziken. This Pokemon is actually both fire and fighting type and it’s from the 3rd generation. Like Charizard and Typhlosion, it’s a starter Pokemon of their generation.
Blaziken has pretty strong lower body strength and muscular legs that aids in its kicking abilities. It can also produce flames at its ankles, as it uses both fire and fighting elements to its advantage. Blaziken can also mega evolve into Mega Blaziken which has even stronger kicks.
This Pokemon has decent base stats with attack and special attack at the top. When it turns into Mega Blaziken, its attack and special attack increases immensely, making it a strong fire Pokemon.
3. Talonflame
Talonflame is a 6th generation fire and flying type Pokemon and evolved from Fletchinder. It resembles a big bird or a falcon.
Talonflame can dive at the speed of around 300 miles an hour to attack foes and uses its kicks. If you look at its feathers and wings, there are red markings on it. It is capable of generating ember from it and use fiery attacks against its opponents.
This Pokemon has overall average stats but it has a pretty high speed compared to others.
4. Arcanine
Arcanine is the evolved form of Growlithe and is a pure fire Pokemon from the 1st generation. It resembles a rather huge canine and sort of loses its cuteness when it evolves from Growlithe into Arcanine.
Arcanine is known for being both loyal and brave and can run really long distances in swift speed. It has a flame inside of its body which gives it the power to breathe fire.
This Pokemon has pretty decent overall and balanced base stats, with special attack and attack as its strongest attributes.
5. Ho-oh
It will only be fitting for a legendary Pokemon to appear at least once among the best fire Pokemon. Ho-oh is a 2nd generation flying and fire type legendary Pokemon that is known as the guardian of the skies. It is normally compared to Lugia as they are both part of a duo.
Its body is pretty colorful and looks like a combination of a peacock and a phoenix. Ho-oh is also known to have special powers, like resurrecting dead Pokemon.
This legendary Pokemon has impressive base stats, with really high special defense and attack attributes.
6. Typhlosion
This 2nd generation Pokemon is also a starter and it evolves from Quilava. Typholosion is a pure fire type Pokemon like Arcanine.
This Pokemon resembles a badger, like an oversized version of it. Typhlosion has spiky fur on its back. It also produces flames at the back of its neck especially during battle. It is quite rare to find in the wild.
Typhlosion has overall decent base attributes with special attack and speed being its strongest stats.
7. Infernape
As its name suggests, Infernape resembles an ape Pokemon and is a fire and fighting type Pokemon from the 4th generation. It is the evolved form of Monferno.
One unique feature of Infernape is that it has a flame on its head that never goes out, just like Charmander’s tail. This Pokemon is a specialist in all kinds of martial arts. It can also use fiery kicks and punches too, just like Blaziken uses fiery kicks.
Like the rest, this Pokemon has decent base stats, with special attack, speed and attack as its strongest attributes.
8. Magmortar
Magmortar is Magmar’s evolved form and is a pure fire type from the 4th generation. It has a unique look since its hands are like cannons.
Whenever it wants to unleash fire attacks from its hands, the claws enter into the skin and becomes like a cannon. As it’s a magma Pokemon, its fireball attacks are super hot and is capable of melting foes.
Magmortar has pretty decent overall stats as well, with special attack being its strongest stat.
9. Heatran
Next on the list of best fire Pokemon is Heatran. It’s also a legendary Pokemon from the 4th generation and is both a fire and steel type.
This tortoise-like Pokemon has blood that is as hot as magma flowing within its body. As the magma is too hot, some parts of its body look out of shape due to melting.
As it’s a legendary Pokemon, it has higher base stats. Its special attack, defense and special defense are its strongest attributes.
10. Entei
Another legendary featured on this list is Entei, a 2nd generation fire type Pokemon. It’s part of the legendary beasts trio, alongside Suicune and Raikou.
This beast resembles a lion and is said to be born whenever a new volcano is in existence. Apparently when Entei roars, a volcano will erupt some place in the world.
Entei has pretty decent overall stats, but a little low for a legendary Pokemon. Its HP, attack and speed are its strongest base stats.
