Test of Courage is a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey involving a mysterious woman.
Your task is to enter a volcano and look for a special helmet on behalf of this woman.
Here’s a walkthrough of Test of Courage in AC Odyssey.
This quest is recommended for those level 48 and above, but it differs according to your own level.
To begin the quest, talk to the mysterious woman. You can find her location shown in the map below.
Talk to her to begin the quest.
Reach the Foundry of Hephaistos
The woman will tell you that there’s a helmet hidden in the Foundry of Hephaistos. There are also other items there.
The exact location of the volcano is shown in the map below, marked as the quest symbol.
The whole island is just black in color due to ashes I suppose. Walk to the middle and you’ll see the way into the volcano.
Get to this tree which is also a fast travel point.
Explore the volcano to find the entrance to the tomb
Now, you have to find the tomb’s entrance, which is inside the volcano.
Jump into the pit from the fast travel point.
You should reach this area filled with lava.
There should be a detour inside where you can find a treasure chest, but it’s not part of the quest.
You will know you’re on the right track if you see this bandit. Kill him and proceed.
You should get to this area where you have to go even lower.
You will encounter even more bandits inside. Kill all of them if you wish.
Once you’ve done killing them, keep exploring until you find this door. This is the entrance to the tomb.
Explore the tomb for the helmet
The tomb has several flights of stairs. There are also traps inside.
The image below shows how the trap works. If you step on it, the spikes will come up after a few seconds. Try to avoid it to prevent any injury.
There are actually two different treasure chests in this tomb. One leads to the helmet, and the other leads to a weapon.
If you find this place where you have to move the shelves to open the entrance, you’re on the way towards both the weapon and the helmet.
Keep going and there are snakes along the way. There should be plenty of snakes if you’re going the right way.
You will come across an area where you can either climb up or go down. If you go downwards, you will reach a chest.
This chest in the image below will give you a weapon.
Get back to the previous area, and climb up this time. It may not be that obvious at first that you can climb up.
You will then reach an eagle statue and a chest behind it.
This chest gives you the Helmet of Gorgophone, which is the quest item you’re looking for.
Deliver the helmet to the woman
Once you’ve taken everything, get back to the mysterious woman in the location shown below.
Talk to her and the quest completes. She will sort of indirectly reveal herself to be Athena.
You should earn the Helmet of Gorgophone plus some drachmae.
After she leaves, there will be an owl’s feather on the spot she disappeared. Pick it up.
And that’s about it for the quest.
