Things Fall Apart is a main story quest in Final Fantasy XVI.
Your objective is to aid Martha, Isabelle and L’ubor in dealing with Akashic enemies.

The quest begins when you arrive at the hideaway.
Before doing the quest, you can now craft a new sword, i.e. Brightburn.
Speak with Otto
First of all, talk to Otto to find out what is going on.
Speak with Vivian and Harpocrates
To get more insight, speak with Vivian and Harpocrates.
Talk to Otto again
Return to Otto to discuss further on the issue of the skies turning red.
You will then need to aid Martha’s Rest, Northreach and Dalimil.
The Flames of War sub-quest
Aid Martha’s Rest first. Look for Martha in her tavern.
The sub-quest The Flames of War begins.
Head to the Fallen Gate as marked in the map.
You’ll need to slay the Akashic enemies. You’ll meet Sir Wade.
Now, head to the other side. Descend the lift.
Defeat more Akashic enemies here including an Akashic Adamantoise.
Next, go to Rhiannon’s Ride as marked in the map.
Slay the enemies.
The quest ends when you’re done with the Akashic. You’ll get a Guardian Scarf which is displayed in Clive’s chambers.
Down the Rabbit Hole sub-quest
Next, aid Dalimil. Talk to L’ubor to begin the sub-quest Down the Rabbit Hole.
First of all, visit the Final Sting inn.
After the cutscene, talk to Viktor.
Then, speak with L’ubor again.
Now, help recruit Konrad and Natalie to L’ubor’s cause.
You can speak with Konrad who is nearer first.
Then, talk to Natalie to get her to agree to L’ubor’s cause.
After you’re done, speak with Viktor again.
Now, head outside to slay the bandits.
The quest ends after you’re done with the bandits.
Why We Fight sub-quest
The third sub-quest is Why We Fight and it starts when you find Isabelle in Northreach.
Talk to the courtesan to begin.
Next, visit the garrison nearby to speak with Isabelle who is with the soldiers.
Speak with the wounded in the area.
Now, make your way to Moore as marked in the map.
When you arrive, slay the thralls in the area.
The quest ends after you’re done with the enemies.
Return to the hideaway
Go back to the hideaway when you’re done with aiding the different places.
Talk to Otto again.
Then, you’ll meet with Joshua in the infirmary as he has recovered.
He will then join Clive and Jill for the Free Cities expedition.
The quest ends when you leave for the Free Cities.
