A Family’s Legacy is one of the main quests in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey where you search for your real father.
In this quest, you have to go to the Volcanic Islands of Thera and search for information on your father.
Here’s a walkthrough of A Family’s Legacy in AC Odyssey.
This quest is recommended for level 27 or whatever your level is right now.
Go to Thera
The first thing you have to do is go to Thera. It’s pretty much a deserted island apart from some dangerous animals inhabiting it.
The exact location of Thera is shown in the map below.
Get to the quest symbol shown in the image below.
Take the Adrestia there.
You will find a chest there and you have to interact with it. You will get a note which is a clue on his father’s whereabouts.
Also, there’ll be a huge door there similar to the place where you forge your Spear of Leonidas. Of course, the door can’t be opened.
Open the door
The next objective is to try to open the door. If you notice the area around you, there may be rays of light reflecting from many mirrors.
I can’t remember which one comes first, but go to the mirrors closest to you from the door.
You need to do some adjustments by yourself. Some of these areas also have animals like tiger cubs or snakes attacking you.
Get rid of them first.
When you’re at the first area, you may notice that sometimes the light is blocked by some object or maybe some mirrors are not in alignment.
You have to move some of these structures to get the light reflecting properly.
Keep trying until it works. Normally Alexios will mutter to himself that it’s correctly placed if you get it right.
Sometimes there are broken doors like this one blocking the light. Just destroy it with your weapon.
Once the light source is reflected properly, it will finally go towards the big door.
The door is now unlocked and you can get in by interacting with it.
Find your father
Behind the doors, you will find a cave-like place. It’s rather dark and there are some gaps that you have to go through.
There are also places where you have to jump all the way down to proceed.
If you see this lava place, then you’ll know you’re in the right way. Do not touch the lava.
It’s pretty much instant death. I accidentally entered the lava and immediately get de-synchronized. Try to quick save before attempting jumps.
Once you’ve past the lava area, keep on going. You will finally reach this place as shown in the screenshot below.
It’s actually the City of Atlantis and you will meet your father standing there. Talk to him and a cutscene will appear.
You’ll understand more about the father after the conversation.
Find Atlantis using Layla
After the cutscene, you will be back as Layla Hassan as she attempts to find Atlantis in the present time.
You will start here in the sea and dive into the quest marker shown below. It’s quite a swim but luckily you won’t have an oxygen meter.
Don’t worry about drowning with Layla.
If you see the purplish things in the seabed, then you’re on the right way.
Finally, you will reach the entrance to Atlantis just like Alexios / Kassandra did earlier.
You can’t proceed further as you don’t know how, so you’ll be back to the animus.
And the quest completes here. You need to find four different artifacts from different islands to proceed, which is another quest by itself.
