The Taxman Cometh is another side quest in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, one that is activated in Euboea.
Your role is to help rescue a farmer and thereafter find some hidden treasure as your quest reward.
Here’s a short walkthrough of The Taxman Cometh in AC Odyssey.
This quest is recommended for those level 22 and above.
The quest activates after talking to a drunk woman and you help her find a husband who was taken by soldiers.
Find the farmer at Mount Dirfi
The first place you have to go is Mount Dirfi and you can see the exact location in the map below. It’s pretty close to the fast travel location.
You will notice one guy lying on the floor. Talk to him and a cutscene will appear. You will then know that the farmer was taken to the fort.
Rescue the farmer from Dystos Fort
Dystos Fort is quite a big fort located a couple of hundred meters away from where you last stopped.
The exact location of Dystos Fort is shown in the map below. It’s in the Forgotten Ruins of Makris region.
As it’s a huge fort, there are plenty of objectives, like killing the Polemarch, burning war supplies, freeing captives and looting treasure.
You can choose to do all of these objectives for added XP, or just free the farmer and other captives.
There are a few captives together. Kill the soldiers around the cages first. There are about four or five of them and one animal.
After rescuing him, he will run away together with other prisoners.
Escort the farmer
Based on my own experience, the farmer just fled by himself pretty quickly. Follow him down the tunnel and you’ll find an exit from the fort.
Don’t let him get killed by soldiers. It may be better to clear the area first before rescuing him.
After walking for almost 200 meters, he will stop outside the fort. Talk to him and he’ll tell you about his hidden wealth.
You have to collect your own quest reward.
Find Katarraktes Cave
The quest reward is inside a place called Katarraktes Cave. The exact location of this cave is shown in the screenshot below.
This is the entrance of the cave. Just walk in and there are no enemies.
The quest reward is actually quite deep inside the cave, nearing the other exit.
You can actually see the exit from where his hidden assets are.
And that’s it. The quest completes after you’ve taken your quest rewards.
