The Family Jewel is a main mission in Borderlands 3 on the planet of Eden-6.
Your task is to locate the Family Jewel which is a ship to get the vault fragment.
This is a walkthrough of The Family Jewel in Borderlands 3.
This mission is recommended for level 25 and above.
Talk to Hammerlock
Your first objective is to meet Hammerlock at Jakob’s place.
Talk to him.
Take the Monty’s Wooden Record.
Place the record to hear what Jakob’s father had to say before he died.
Go to Voracious Canopy
Next, head to the Voracious Canopy. The location is shown in the map below.
You’ll have to go through some creatures first.
At the end of the road, you’ll see the entrance to Voracious Canopy.
Locate the Family Jewel
Next, head to the location shown in the map to find the Family Jewel.
Along the way, there’ll be many enemies as well.
Kill Tyrant
After locating the ship, a Tyrant will come out. Kill it first.
Pick up Balex
Balex was the one speaking to you. He is in the plushie on the ground. Pick it up.
Locate the Family Jewel
Keep walking ahead until you reach the ship.
To enter, melee the steel panel at the door. A swarm of creatures will come out. Kill it.
Melee the hydraulic lines this time.
Open door
After entering the ship, use the controls to open the door.
Go through medical bay
You’ll have to go through the medical bay. The location on the map is updated as you progress.
As usual, there’ll be all kinds of enemies like ratches.
Continue going through the bay.
Grab wires
After reaching the destination, grab the wires to open the door.
After grabbing the wires, an explosion will occur and you’ll be close to dying. A medical bot will appear to heal you.
Knock head off the bot
Balex will ask you to knock the bot’s head off. Just melee the head and it’ll do.
Place Balex on the bot’s head.
Go to security bay
Your next objective is to get to the security bay. The location is shown in the map.
After opening the door, you’ll meet ravagers and all sorts of enemies.
Continue following the map as the location gets updated.
Defend Balex
Before you’re able to proceed, you need to defend Balex from the bots and whatnot.
Check freight entrance
Head towards the freight entrance instead. Balex will open the door.
After entering, there’ll be more security inside. Kill all of the bots.
Get to security bay
Continue walking until you reach this door.
Clear security
There’ll be more enemies inside. Clear the security first.
Defend Balex
After clearing security inside, Balex will attempt to open the door.
While waiting, many jabbers will come attacking. Kill them all.
Go to high security door
Next, head to the high security door. As the door opens, an elite jabber will appear. Take him out.
Retrieve Balex
Pick Balex up from the ground again.
Go to the bridge
Your next objective is to head to the bridge to kill GenIVIV, the AI that’s messing with you two.
Get to the container
Along the way, there’ll be a mech suit in a container. Clear the enemies first.
You need to get to the container.
To get up there, go to the higher floor first.
Jump from one container to the next and you’ll reach the container with the red light.
Use the switch above the container to bring it down.
Install Balex
Place Balex on the mech suit and he will control the mech.
After installing Balex on the mech, more enemies will appear. Take them all out.
Balex then disappears for now as he accidentally used the wrong function on his mech.
Get to bridge
Continue heading to the bridge.
Before jumping down to the destination, stock up on ammo and so on. It will be a boss fight.
Defeat GenIVIV (boss)
The boss for this mission is GenIVIV. You will be fighting her with Balex on your side.
Balex will sabotage her navigation, meaning she’ll be shooting and going everywhere, not just at you.
It makes the fight a lot easier.
The first layer of her shield isn’t too strong. The second layer’s much harder to destroy.
Just avoid her attacks and continue firing until she’s gone.
Collect vault key fragment
After the fight, pick up the vault key fragment.
Also, collect Balex from the ground.
Return to Sanctuary
Get back to your ship.
Go to bridge
After reaching Sanctuary, you’ll discover that GenIVIV has taken over the ship.
Head towards the bridge.
Kill the bots you see along the way.
Kill service bots
Before you can reach the bridge, you’ll need to clear the bots first.
Install Balex
To counter GenIVIV, install Balex into the ship’s brain.
He will get rid of GenIVIV.
Pick up hard drive
Take the hard drive which contains GenIVIV.
Give hard drive to Marcus
Go to Marcus and pass the drive to him.
Give vault key to Tannis
Finally, head to Tannis’ lab to pass her the vault key.
The mission completes here.
