The Distress Signal: The Outer Worlds Walkthrough

The Distress Signal is a side quest given by Gladys in The Outer Worlds.

Your task is to help Gladys investigate a distress signal from Roseway and gather data.

Here’s a walkthrough of The Distress Signal in The Outer Worlds.

Play the distress call

Your first objective is to head back to The Unreliable. Use ADA to play the distress call.

Go to Roseway

You’ll then need to head to Roseway. It’s located under Terra 2 planet. You should see Roseway under Edgewater in the list.

Reach Roseway town

Once you’ve landed, go towards the town area. This quest is somewhat linked to The Doom That Came To Roseway.

The two quests will overlap. You’ll need to speak to Anton Crane at the Comms building to learn why he used the distress signal.

Also, speak to Vaughn and Orson who are in the same town.

Acquire Anton’s Research

You will receive three new objectives after you speak to Anton, Vaughn and Orson.

The first one you should get is the Anton’s research.

Basically, you have to get the data from Cassandra (outlaw leader) as she took the data from Anton’s safe.

Help her escape and you may still get the data. Refer to The Doom That Came To Roseway.

Acquire the weapon plans

The next item you need is the weapon plans. You’ll have to go to the storage facility for this one. It’s located southeast of Roseway / east of Unreliable.

The storage facility has enemies waiting outside.

Enter the storage facility.

There’ll be more marauders inside the storage facility. You’ll probably have to clear them.

The weapon plans is hidden in a room that’s locked. You can either unlock using lockpicking and the necessary materials, or you can open it using the storage facility passcode.

The storage facility passcode is on a scientist’s body. The dead scientist is located upstairs.

Once you have the passcode or the lockpicking skill, open the door.

Just past the door, you should find an Acid Steeper (for another quest).

There’ll be more mechanical sentries inside. Take them out first.

The weapon plan is on the wall. Take it.

Acquire Vaughn’s research

The last item is Vaughn’s research and it’s also part of another side quest.

This one’s located at Auntie-Biotics Lab.

Look for Vaughn’s secret lab within the building.

Use the terminal to complete the experiment and get his research data.

After acquiring Anton’s research, Vaughn’s research and the weapon plans, you can complete the relevant side quests first before selling them.

Try to complete the relevant side quests without giving up the items, by way of telling lies and so on. Otherwise, you can’t sell the items to Gladys.
