The Veteran is a side mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 and the previous part one was to help Hamish find his horse.
In this part two, you will go fishing with him to catch a huge fish called The Tyrant.
Here’s a walkthrough of The Veteran (Part Two) in RDR 2.
To start the mission, go to Hamish’s cabin at O’Creaghs Run. His exact location is shown in the map above.
You will see this cabin when you get there.
Row your boat to the fishing spot
Take the boat and row for awhile to the fishing spot marked as yellow.
Remember to equip the lure he gave to you. Open the bait wheel to find the lure. Start fishing from here.
After awhile, you probably won’t get any fish but Hamish will be pulled by the Tyrant into the lake.
Get to Hamish
Row your boat to Hamish and pull him up.
He will then ask you to row to another fishing spot.
Catch the Tyrant
Just fish like you were taught back in a very early mission with Jack. Rotate slowly to get a bite from the Tyrant.
The difficult part is reeling. Use L3 to tire the fish and rotate R3 to reel when the fish isn’t struggling.
When the fish struggles, remember to hold R3 on any direction to prevent it from going further away. I didn’t do this part which is why the fish never came closer.
It takes a pretty long time to reel in the Tyrant, so be patient. Just reel when it’s tired, use L3 to tire it and remember to hold R3 in one direction when it’s struggling.
Rinse and repeat.
And you will get this huge fish in the end.
