Favored Sons is a main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 involving Dutch and Eagle Flies.
Your role is to follow the gang to warn some of the lawmen who have been disturbing the Indians.
Here’s a walkthrough of Favored Sons in RDR 2.
To start the mission, go to Eagle Flies who’s just northeast of Valentine town. You will see Dutch there as well.
Plant the dynamite
Follow Dutch to plant the dynamites on the trees to set a trap.
Dutch will place the dynamites so you need to pick up the spool and connect the wires for all of the dynamites.
There should be three spots for you to fix the wires.
Once you’re done, follow Dutch back to the top of the cliff to wait for the lawmen to arrive.
The lawmen will arrive on their horses. Wait for them to get close and for the detonate button to light up.
Press detonate when it’s ready.
The men will be trapped by the trees and surrounded by you guys. During the cutscene, another group of reinforcements came and started shooting.
Kill all of the lawmen
Start firing back and killing the lawmen. There’ll be plenty of them.
Some will even come up where you guys are.
There is also one man with a cannon. The cannon is marked as a bigger red blip on the radar. Get rid of the cannon quickly.
Loot the dead bodies
Once they’re all dead, loot the bodies to look for any clues.
Get to the bottom and start searching.
Follow Dutch
Once you’re done looting, follow Dutch and get on your horse.
Keep running away and shooting at all the lawmen who are following you two.
At one point, you have to leave your horse behind and follow Dutch on foot.
Keep going and there’ll be more and more lawmen closing in.
Get to the end of the road and you’ll notice it’s a dead end.
Keep walking backwards until you reach the edge by holding L3.
During the cutscene, Arthur and Dutch will jump down to the river.
Keep swimming and follow Dutch in the stream. The lawmen will lose sight of you guys and the mission is complete.
If you wish to get a perfect score, you need to do the following:
- Kill the soldier on the cannon within 45 seconds
- Get 35 headshots
- Complete the mission without taking any health items
