Persona 5 takes social stats seriously and you need to have certain levels of social stats to hang out with confidants.
For example, you need level 3 knowledge to first initiate a conversation with Makoto, the Priestess confidant.
As Persona 5’s story is limited to a certain number of days, you need to spend your time wisely including raising social stats.
One of the social stats you need to raise is knowledge. Here’s how to do it.
How to raise knowledge in Persona 5
Knowledge is used mainly in conjunction with confidants, i.e. to initiate conversations with confidants or to progress further with them to increase the confidant rank. It also unlocks different types of conversations, especially on how smart you are.
There are many ways to raise knowledge in Persona 5, and they’re mostly revolving around studies. The most common way is to answer questions during class and you have to answer it correctly to gain one point.
You will also be faced with exams a few times in the game. Answer the questions correctly (do well) during the exam and you will get a boost in knowledge stats. Before exams, you’ll be asked if you want to study with your confidants. If you do so, you’ll also gain three extra points on knowledge.
Some of you may not know, but there’s actually a crossword in Le Blanc, the place you’re staying at. You can solve it and get additional knowledge points.
Apart from that, you can also study in your room in Le Blanc, or answer TV quizzes correctly to raise knowledge rank.
Another easy way is to go to the school library and study. You will gain knowledge and sometimes even guts.
There’s also a family restaurant located on Shibuya Central that most people would have missed. You can get 2 knowledge points and an extra 1 point on rainy days. Depending on what you order, you can also raise other social stats.
Additionally, you can buy books from the bookstore at Shibuya or elsewhere. Books will indicate which stat it will raise once it’s completed. You can sometimes read these books in the train on the way to school, or even in the library.
Lastly, you can also gain knowledge points if you watch a particular movie “Back to the Ninja” at the cinema. You can watch this movie sometime in October and November.
Do you need to raise knowledge in Persona 5?
Like other social stats, knowledge is required to unlock certain confidant ranks and initiate hang outs with confidants.
The higher the rank of a confidant, the more benefits you’ll get for your battles in Palaces throughout the story.
Hence, you should try to raise all of your social stats and max them in your subsequent playthroughs.
It may not be realistic to max your social stats (e.g. proficiency) in your first game, but you can do so in the New Game+ since stats can be brought forward.
