Hey guys, welcome back to another blog traffic update for Ordinary Reviews! As you’ve probably seen, this blog’s traffic has been increasing steadily all thanks to Google.
Without further ado, here are screenshots for our blog traffic in September and early October.
The above is a screenshot of this blog’s traffic from mid-August up to early September. The graph is up to 900 visitors.
Here’s the screenshot from mid September to early October. As you can see, the graph is much higher now, i.e. up to 2,000 visitors.
Hence, you can see that this blog’s traffic has increased over time! It took me a rather long time but slow and steady wins? Depends.
Most of the traffic can be attributed to these two posts:
Three altcoins that may substantially rise by 2018
Which cryptocurrency should you invest in before 2018?
I think these two articles alone are currently giving close to 800+ visitors a day. It’s crazy considering how many articles I’ve written that only gives minimal traffic.
This clearly shows how important Google is in bringing traffic to your blog, and how important keyword targeting is.
Traffic Sources
I always do a short segment on where my traffic comes from so here it is.
1. Google
Google traffic has become 90% of my traffic source and it’s precisely the reason why SEO is so important. Always remember to do on-page SEO, like putting a long-tail keyword as your focus keyword, keyword concentration, use alt texts in images, keep the title within the SEO length and so on. You can read my article on simple on-page SEO anyone can do.
Furthermore, you should try to build backlinks, but not the black hat way (too risky). I personally build links from Steemit and occasionally Reddit, since Reddit is much harder to me. The sentiment against self-promotion is huge, so it’s rather hard to build backlinks on Reddit.
Lastly, always post consistently. Always try to write longer quality articles to rank well. I know I haven’t been doing that myself ever since I joined Steemit, but I should have been doing so.
2. Pinterest
My Pinterest strategy is clearly lacking. My traffic has been consistent but there has been no increase of traffic; just a steady flow each day.
I still use Tailwind to schedule my pins every week. Furthermore, I haven’t been putting new pins on Pinterest lately. I have been pretty sluggish on this blog.
Nonetheless, thanks to a scheduler I don’t have to pin manually each day.
3. Facebook
I still share my articles on Facebook from time to time but I don’t get much traffic there. I guess I’m not as worried after getting more Google traffic these days and seeing my traffic slowly climbing.
It also takes a lot of time to network with other bloggers on Facebook. Like I said, Steemit has drained most of my time.
4. Others
Perhaps other sources would be Quora, Reddit, Steemit and Stumbleupon. I haven’t been posting or writing there, so traffic hasn’t been coming lately. It all depends on your effort in promoting your content. As I stopped doing that, traffic tanked.
Goals
I still hope that my blog will succeed one day which is why I haven’t given up on it. As traffic is going up, I’m pretty happy and I feel more motivated to write.
Here are some of my goals:
- Now that traffic is building up and the latest is about 1,600 visitors, I’ll aim for at least 2,000 daily visitors!
- More income from this blog. Ultimately I hope to gain more income via affiliates, ads and book sales. Hopefully it will be a dream come true. I’m left with 3 months to make a decent living online.
Thanks everyone for reading. I do appreciate all of you guys.
