Dylan O’Brien was born on the 26th of August 1991 in New York City. His mother is a former actress who ran an acting school while his father was a camera operator.
O’Brien was initially raised in New Jersey but his family moved to California when he was 12. His father is of Irish descent while his mother is of English, Italian and Spanish descent.
When he turned 14, he started posting YouTube videos and a local producer approached him to do work for a web series. While doing the web series, he met an actor who connected him with a manager.
Career
Dylan O’Brien began his career on YouTube by posting short films. He was then cast as Stiles in Teen Wolf. In 2011, he acted in the comedy movie High Road and later in The First Time.
In 2013, he acted in The Internship (with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson). His breakthrough came in 2013 when he became the lead of The Maze Runner. He reprised his role as Thomas in the following two sequels (The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure). During this time, he acted alongside Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee, Aidan Gillen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
O’Brien also acted in Deepwater Horizon (with Mark Wahlberg), American Assassin (with Michael Keaton) and voiced Bumblebee in the movie of the same name (with John Cena and Hailee Steinfeld).
In 2019, he guest starred in the series Weird City and will be starring in Monster Problems.
