A Pirate’s Life is a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on the island of Phokis.
Your task is to rescue a carpenter’s brother from the pirates and he can potentially be your crew member.
Here’s a walkthrough of A Pirate’s Life in AC Odyssey.
This quest is recommended for those level 42 and above, but it may differ according to your own level.
To begin the quest, get to the Isle of Thesvi in the Phokis area. The exact location is shown in the map below.
You will see a man on an abandoned ship. Talk to him to begin.
Rescue the carpenter’s brother
The man turns out to be a carpenter and you volunteer to rescue his brother.
The exact location of his brother is shown in the map below, marked as the quest symbol.
You can swim there (400 meters plus) like I did but it takes a long time.
As you arrive, you should see the brother in a cage, guarded by some pirates.
Kill all of the pirates and rescue the brother. Unlock the cage and carry him as he is wounded.
Bring the carpenter’s brother to the spot shown in the image below.
Carry him here and a cutscene will load.
During the cutscene, you will realize that his wounds are too severe and can’t be saved. He dies here.
Report to the carpenter
The carpenter Tekton will be waiting on your ship (Adrestia). Just fast travel to wherever your ship is.
Talk to him onboard. Here’s where I screwed up.
During the conversation, you can either lie to him that his brother survived, or tell the truth.
I chose to lie and Tekton decided he didn’t want to be part of this crew. The quest fails.
To succeed, choose the honest option and you should even gain a new lieutenant that might be helpful.
