Ever seen income reports with $10,000 or even $100,000 a month? How do bloggers really make money?
Do note that this is only applicable to some and not all bloggers. It’s especially applicable to bloggers who write on the blogging niche, like myself.
Here are some ways we really make money.
1. Look at how much I’m making this month
Oh yes, income reports are so common these days. Almost every blogger has done one or has thought of doing one at some point of their blogging life.
I doubt all bloggers really make as much as they claim they do. Sometimes the numbers don’t add up. Furthermore, there’s no screenshot of their earnings.
Transparency seems to be the key to blogging success these days. Why is that?
It’s one of the best ways to sell your own products or affiliate products.
From your web hosting provider, to an email subscription provider, to a premium theme or even a blogging course, they normally have affiliate programs.
In any income report, you’ll probably see lots and lots of affiliate links. Some even mask their links with certain plugins.
It’s the internet. Take everything with a pinch of salt.
2. I gained this amount of traffic in just 3 months
Oh hey, I started blogging 3 months ago but I’m already getting this much daily traffic.
So how did I accomplish this?
Here’s my affiliate link to this course or to this ebook that helped me to boost my traffic!
That’s another way bloggers really make money.
3. I gained 1,000 email subscribers in just 1 month
This one is less common than income reports but I do see these around.
Basically, you need to get a mailing list provider which is expensive like ConvertKit and boost your number of subscribers by 10000%.
While a mailing list provider does help, you don’t need an expensive one to start with, unless you have the budget for it.
You can also subscribe to this course which is the reason why I have so many email subscribers now.
4. I made this much from paid surveys
Let’s be honest here. Most of the bloggers who advertise that they make lots of money with paid surveys, don’t get the bulk of the money from doing surveys.
They get it from referrals. Companies like CashCrate, Swagbucks and so on will pay you for each referral. Swagbucks pays about $2.20 per referral.
While surveys do earn you some money, it’s more suitable for those in the US or in the UK. It’s more suitable in the sense that you’re more likely to be qualified for a survey.
Try getting surveys if you live where I do and you’ll be surprised if you can even get one survey.
5. I make six figures a month but I’m not gonna share with you my blog link
Then there’s another group of people who tries to show on social media that they’re making five or six figures a month.
But hey, they’re not going to give you a link to their blog. You can PM them though, like you’re dealing with some black market shit.
If I had a secret to making six figures a month, am I going to share it with you (unless I charge you extravagantly)?
Think about it. Why make someone else rich and deplete my earnings for free?
So how do bloggers really make money?
To be honest, I feel like blogging about blogging is a little like multi-level marketing. Profit goes on as long as new bloggers are still getting hosting, email lists, courses, premium themes and so on.
I’m one of those who blogs about blogging as one of my niches. It’s not that getting self-hosted or investing in a premium theme is wrong. Going self-hosted and so on is the right choice; but aggressively asking others to use your affiliate link hits my nerves.
This will be one of the few articles you won’t see an affiliate link from me.
